Description: The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament is a team event with top-team honors going to the team that tallies the most points during the tournament and pays down to third place. Primarily a Marlin tournament, the tournament also offers optional Tuna, Dorado and Wahoo divisions. The entry fee is $5,000 per team (up to six registered anglers,) plus the cost of any additional jackpots you enter. Over $500,000 in prize money will be at stake this year.

Schedule: October 16th –20th, 2010; Fishing the 17th–19th.

Scoring: One point per pound for every blue or black marlin officially weighed and verified in excess of 300 pounds. One point per pound for every striped marlin officially weighed and verified at more than 175 pounds. In the event that a billfish is brought to the scales and fails to make the minimum weight limits for the species, the team catching the fish will be penalized 300 points PLUS two points per pound that the fish is under the minimum weight. They will receive no other points for the fish.

Any billfish boated for ANY reason MUST be weighed. Failure to weigh a boated fish will result in immediate disqualification for the remainder of the tournament and forfeiture of all points previously earned. *Only one marlin may be taken per day, per boat. Each eligible billfish species (blue, black and striped marlin) will be scored one point per pound.

Rules IGFA rules apply in this tournament but anglers may pass the rod to other team members if need be. When registered anglers are fighting a fish, they must comply with IGFA angling rules and regulations.

Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore:bisbeesLogo

Description: Bisbee's Los Cabos Offshore Tournament is focused on competition and camaraderie, and known as a “warm up” for the Bisbee’s Black & Blue. An expected 70 teams will compete for over $300,000 in cash awards. This is a Marlin tournament with an optional gamefish division which includes Tuna and Dorado. The entry fee is $1200 per team (up to 4 anglers,) plus the cost of any additional jackpots you choose to enter. Over $300,000 in prize money is at stake.

Schedule: October 19–21, 2012; fishing on 20 and 21

Scoring: One point per pound for every Marlin officially weighed and verified in excess of 300 pounds, underweight fish are penalized. Single heaviest Dorado and Tuna will also take home cash prizes.

Rules: IGFA rules apply in this tournament, but circle hooks are not mandated with live bait

Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament is the world's richest billfish tournament with the most million dollar winners—seven since 2003. An expected 200 teams will compete for over $4 million in cash awards. This is a Black and Blue Marlin Tournament, no other species. The entry fee is $5000 per team (up to 4 anglers,) plus the cost of any additional jackpots. Over $4 million in prize money will be at stake this year.

Schedule: October 23–27, Fishing the 24–26

Scoring: One point per pound for every Blue or Black Marlin officially weighed and verified in excess of 300 pounds, underweight fish are penalized. Prizes are awarded to the top 5 teams that accumulate the most billfish weight points.

2012: Western Outdoor News Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot:TunaJackpot

Description: Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot, is a team event with top team honors going to the team that catches the biggest Yellowfin Tuna. Cash and Prizes are awarded to the three biggest fish each day, as well as the overall winner. The tournament also has Wahoo and Dorado optional, but nothing for any type of Marlin. The entry fee is $800 per team (up to four anglers,) plus the cost of any additional jackpots you enter. Over $800,000 in prize money will be at stake this year.

Schedule: November 7–10, 2012, Fishing the 8 and 9.

Scoring: One point per pound for each Yellowfin Tuna weighed. Same for Dorado and Wahoo, you may only weigh one fish of each species per day.

Rules: Non-IGFA rules.
