September 2007 - A Fishing Honeymoon - Brian Droney and his new wife shared their honeymoon vacation with RedRum and fished aboard TantRum. August 26, 2007 San Diego Union-Tribune - San Marcos resident John Donovan planned to retire as a partner in a medical financing business when it was taken over by Capital One in 2003. But on a fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas, he decided to take over RedRum Sportfishing, which had been operating at the Mexican resort since 1999 with one boat. Since then, Donovan, 57, in partnership with his son, Ryan, 28, has expanded the fleet to four boats. A fifth boat is going through a complete rebuild, and a 54-foot luxury sport-fishing boat is being added in November. Read more. March 14, 2007 – Sportsman Channel presents Team Outdoors TV by Lowrance Fishing with RedRum SportFishing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. John Donovan of Team RedRum brings the crew to the Golden Gate Banks off the southern tip of Baja to fish for Dorado and Marlin. Check out these saltwater rooks handling their first offshore fish. February 2007 – RedRum Sportfishing to begin renovations of flagship vessel, RedRum. This 31’ Bertram will undergo a complete overhaul and will return to its fishing glory in late 2007. December 2006 – The Sportsman Channel spent a week with RedRum Sportfishing chasing tuna on the Southern Pacific Ocean. Click the slide show graphic above to read more about their fishing adventure. Footage will be aired on March 7 and 14, 2007. See news release above for details. October 2006 – RedRum Sportfishing is a proud sponsor of the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge in San Diego. The Tuna Challenge was started in 1991 and is now the largest tuna tournament in the continental United States. Proceeds from the tournament are given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego. May 2006 – RedRum Sportfishing is a proud sponsor of Rett Syndrome Research Foundation’s annual Boston gala. RSRF’s mission is to fund, promote and accelerate biomedical research for the treatment and cure of Rett Syndrome, a delibitating neurological disorder that is diagnosed almost exclusively in females. Auctioned was a charter fishing package aboard RedRum Sportfishing’s 33’ Bertram, El Nuevo RedRum. Pictured are the happy winners on board.
