Cabo San Lucas Fishing

All 8 were CCA folks on 2 boats, and regulars with RedRum. Total catch was 35 Dorado, 13 striped Marlin, 14 yellowfin tuna, and one really nice sailfish.

I have personally fished with RedRum 8 or 9 times since 2014, and recommended RedRum to at least 4 groups that have all had an equally great experience.

The RedRum group was highly recommended by a family friend and he could not have been more spot on.
Toby, one of the owners, is a joy to work with and he put us in the extremely capable hands of Captain Juan and 1st Mate Jesus on the Rumrunner.
The word in town was 'the bite had been slow' over the past few days, so we were privately concerned that our day would be something of a bust.
We were very wrong.
Capt. Juan knew right where to go and Jesus had all elements in place so we were trolling the moment the engines slowed.
When our first stop was not producing, lines came in and we were gunning to the next location, this time with dolphin escorting us off our bow for much of the way.
Lines hit the Rumrunner's wake a mile or more from where a dozen or more other craft were clustered up together. I admit that I was wondering to myself 'Why the hell aren't we over there'? Well, I will never know if any of those boats were successful, but Juan had a beautiful striped Martin on the line within 5 minutes. This fellow gave me a brilliant battle, complete with long runs and stunning aerials, for 45 tiring minutes. Adding to the scene, a pod of humpback whales frolicked a hundred or so yards off our starboard cheering one of us on. One of these behemoths seemed to take on the role of cheerleader as they rolled to the side several times and waved his massive pectoral fin in the air a dozen or more times.
The guys hoisted the tired marlin over the gunnel with care ... my first marlin and close to 9 feet .. a few pictures and she was back in the sea in under 4 minutes.
My wife was next in the chair less than 30 minutes later, fighting her own fish. Before Jesus could even pull in the remaining lines, 2 more marlin were on. I took one rod with a rod belt, while the circle hook rig allowed us to let the third fish to drop off on his own accord.
The skill and wisdom of the crew directed both of us in landing both our fish without tangling lines.
By the time I landed my third of the day, this one pushing well past 10', we were exhausted and blissfully happy.
In short, an amazing day with the finest crew thanks to an outstanding company that has been doing this for 30 years

  SMOOTHEST RIDE ON THE WATER ...EVER!! 8 MARLIN A BLAST! Just finished a full day fishing trip on the "High Density" with Captain Kevin, Miguel, Thomas and... read more April. The team was amazing! I booked with Tiffany at RedRum over a month ago. She made sure we knew where to go, what to expect and had everything in good order. Was always easy to reach. We arrived at 6:45am and spent a full day out before returning to the dock after 4pm. The Captain and crew went out of their way to make sure we had an incredible experience. Provided great food, snacks, drinks and conversation. Captain Kevin, Manual and Thomas hooked my family up all day and worked really hard to get us on some good fishing after a full moon night where fish aren't typically quite as aggressive. My daughter caught a wahu early which April made into a tasty shishimi for lunch. We ended up with 8 marlin hooked and 6 caught! Of the four of us only 1 was an experienced fisherman! That didn't matter. The crew helped us, the Captain coached us on what to do and really worked hard to help us land our catch! The striped marlin were huge and put up amazing fights. My daughter fought hers for over 1 hour! It was crazy fun! We had a great day! I will load some pictures when transferred from my phone.

While I can't say enough about the crew, the "High Density" is also an amazing sportsfishing vessell. The "seakeeper 26" gyro is the real deal. It really does reduce the "roll" by 90+%. I have always gotten seasick and we were worried about it. While we saw other boats "rocking" away, the High Density was smooth and comfortable! Really amazing!! My family is now spoiled and said they never want to be on another boat that doesn't have the "seakeeper" system! It really made the trip a joy! So much fun!!

So....our hats are off to the Captain and crew. I also want to THANK the owner for investing in this boat, equipmen and crew! Everything was top notch. The Captain talked about what a great owner and how much care is put into this boat!
So....the High Density is worth every penny of the rental. Definitely do the full day. Our morning was sparse but we finished strong with most of our fish on the hook after lunch!

An added bonus was seeing whales, porpoises, dolphin and birds all day!

We will definitely be back! My family is now "hooked"!

PS... Boat is immaculate and clean. Very well cared for. Crew was professional. Everything had a place. Everyone treated the vessel and equipment with care. Amazing!
